Have you ever been cruising Instagram or Pinterest and found yourself comparing your life to the beautiful people online? Don't lie, you know you do this. It is really easy to forget that what we see online is only part of someone's story, and a real, complicated person exists behind the camera. I'm interested in exploring the reality of life outside of the algorithm, both to remind us that everyone out there is human, but also, to remind us that we aren't alone.

If you spend any amount of time in the planner community (or in the online world in general) you've probably run across these two mindsets - productivity and positivity. From being part of a good vibes tribe to living your best life, there are all sorts of sayings, quotes, master classes, etc on how to be your best and believe in your best all the time.

 

If you have a chronic illness (or chronic pain, or anxiety, or depression... the list goes on) this trend may make you want to throw your device out the window. Today I am talking (ranting?) about how focusing on productivity and positivity can actually be toxic and demoralizing if not taken in perspective. I don't have answers on how to fix this, but I want to start the conversation.
